Transport of Swirling Entropy Waves through an Axial Turbine Stator

The transport of entropy waves and their impact on the stage aerodynamics are still open questions. This paper shows results an experimental campaign that focuses swirling advection through axial turbine stator. research aims at quantifying aerodynamic first nozzle characterizing transport. disturbance is generated by a novel wave generator ensures wide set different injection parameters. device injects axially, four clocking positions investigated. Measurements show severe temperature attenuation stator outlet. high location changes with position as result interaction secondary flows. Depending position, flow field strongly perturbed injected swirl profile, instead effect negligible.
